About Peter (and the "Costa Rican Connection")
e-mail: peterofusa@yahoo.com

Peter James, a physics graduate of Case Institute of Technology (Case-Western Reserve University) in Cleveland, Ohio has been a full time resident of the Las Vistas Condominium on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica for five years. Born in upstate New York of European parents, he is a former aerospace and rocket engineer with the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (PWA) Florida Research and Development Center -- a division of United Technologies in West Palm Beach. During the Cold War, Peter coordinated the firm's foreign technology program with the United States Air Force (USAF) Foreign Technology Division (FTD) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Dayton Ohio.

At the request of the United States government, Peter participated in numerous scientific international conferences and meetings in Europe, South America and the Middle East. He was asked frequently to critique  U.S. government secret assessments of Soviet capabilities. An 800-page secret report that he authored on Soviet rocket and space technology, which was requested by the Executive Office of the President and various agencies and departments within the Executive Branch of the U.S. government, received "high marks" throughout Air Force and other U.S. government classified circles; it was the first to document major Soviet rocket and missile developments that were previously unknown by the U.S. government.

During the Reagan Era, Peter conducted firsthand research by traveling 100,000 miles per year, including numerous fact finding trips to Central America, Cuba, the Caribbean and other regions of national security interest to the United States. As an author and professional speaker, Peter has addressed more than a thousand university audiences in 47 states and Canadian provinces. He has similarly spoken on national security topics to American executives from organizations such as The Palm Beach Round Table, The Denver (Colorado) Executive Club, and the Ft. Wayne (Indiana) Executive Club. During the 150th anniversary convention of the International Platform Association (IPA) in Washington, D.C., Peter was named a "Winning Speaker" with lawyer F. Lee Bailey, television commentator David Brinkley, columnist Jack Anderson, astronomer Carl Sagan, and War and Remembrance author Herman J. Wouk. Peter has participated in hundreds of televised interviews from Maine to California and From Alaska to Florida.

His hardcover books have been published under a "pen name" both in the United States and abroad and have been selections of a popular book club. Peter has been using the peace and tranquility offered by Las Vistas in Costa Rica to write "one last book" under his own name covering personal experiences during the past four decades with the U.S. and foreign governments.

Why Costa Rica ?

From the vantage point of an ecological "dream-come-true" in Costa Rica, Peter is sharing his Las Vistas discovery with close friends and others who desire privacy and wish to leave their fast-paced successful life style behind for their colleagues to "carry on".  If you like privacy, the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica is exactly what the doctor has ordered. If the economic challenges worldwide have you thinking about the future, do what many Americans are already doing: "Take care of your health and move to Costa Rica".

Before retiring in Costa Rica, Peter and his wife Zayra raised their family in South Florida, where Peter changed pace from a hundred-thousand miles per year world traveler and international speaker to becoming a real estate broker for an office located just a hundred meters from his home. Running a one-man office where he would walk to work, Peter dominated the salt waterfront canal lots real estate market by drawing on his background, worldwide contacts, and use of creative marketing techniques. If you like dealing with an honest "hands-on" former real estate broker who understands the importance of (a) full disclosure in a foreign country, (b) title insurance, and (c) applying the same code of ethics that he successfully practiced in the United States, e-mail Peter personally.

Peter's objective is to attract buyers and "retirees"  who would like to help protect the Costa Rican environment. He knows that there are a lot of successful people with creative talent in America who want to get off their "merry-go-round" and get involved with some productive humanitarian and environmental projects in a democratic country that is "taking off". And, for those individuals who are not yet ready to retire and have that American-style free enterprise competitive spirit, Costa Rica is the perfect place to launch a new business; in some respects, Costa Rica is where America was in the 1950's, before politicians and government regulations changed America forever. Imagine either retiring or pursuing your dreams from a Jurassic Park-type setting, where you can retire, work, and/or enjoy the type of privacy that you have never experienced before. And think about this: Costa Rica has educated and very conscientious English-speaking young adults who want to make their mark on their country. This new generation of Costa Ricans wants to learn from Americans who are willing to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise. This is a perfect win-win combination for everyone.

Peter's wife Zayra is Costa Rican, knows her country well and has become very involved with Las Vistas and this very unique secluded Costa Rican gated community. Having lived at Las Vistas full time for five years -- longer than any other resident -- Peter and Zayra would be pleased to brief buyers of their knowledge of the day-to-day happenings (administration, maintenance, Boards of Directors, monthly fees, etc.) and their positive outlook for the future of this very unique paradise.
